Hello
My name is Mariana Van Antwerp. I am the dietetic intern who assisted in developing the website, videos, and content with Gayle Baingo. I recently graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors in Nutrition and Foods with NDTR and I am continuing my journey to become a Registered Dietitian.
My Story
I am thankful to have had this opportunity to work with Gayle on this website and feel that I was lucky to have met someone with such a similar view on nutrition. My passion for Nutrition started in high school when I was diagnosed with IBS and had horrible symptoms as well as pain when it came to my GUT.
I started to look for different answers than what I was told in the hospital, because I knew something was wrong with my diet since these issues only arose around what I was eating. Although I looked healthy and athletic, I had never felt so sick in my life. I began doing my own research and came across the importance of GUT health. I had no idea what that meant but after a few years of doing my research, changing my diet, and seeing dietitian who specializes in the GUT, I began to see changes. I was no longer bloated, in pain after meals, nauseas, fatigued, and worried about my next meal. I realized the importance of how food affects your GUT and how your GUT affects the rest of your body and mind. I could finally live again without being scared of food!
I wanted to share my experience and further my knowledge on nutrition. I knew I wanted to be a dietitian since and this passion is only growing with time. The internet is filled with many misconstrued ideas of what is "healthy" and makes it seem complicated. I hope my experience and knowledge will make a difference in the lives of those around me today, tomorrow, and in the future.
