Today, many people are confused about what foods are best for them. I recently conducted a survey to better understand what people wanted to know about nutrition and gut health. I will share questions and answers to commonly asked questions about nutrition and health.
My goal is to create a roadmap to help you understand what foods are best for your personal genetics and how to source and prepare them correctly. If you are experiencing issues with digestion, the tips provided will assist in healing your gut and improving your overall health.
This website is about self discovery in the area of nutrition. We all have different needs; our genetic make up and ancestry provide clues to help discover which foods are best for ourselves as unique individuals.
I want to share a quick story from a client I counseled in my private practice that gave me the idea for building this website.
A woman in her mid 30's reached out for my services in achieving her weight loss goals because her own efforts had been unsuccessful. Her husband was Mexican and she was eating foods from his culture. When I looked at her, I could clearly see she had a different ethnicity. I asked her about her parents ancestry; her father was northern European and her mother moved to the United States from Korea. When I asked who she was most similar to, she responded she was more like her mother. Her mother was healthy, of normal weight, and ate the traditional Korean diet which she grew up on. I simply suggested that she eat like her mother, and I noticed she had an aha moment when I said this. She was familiar with this way of eating and cooking and agreed this made sense to her. When she followed up with me after several months, she looked fantastic, had lost weight, experienced more energy, looked more vibrant, and felt so much better. She was amazed at how simple the solution was!
My hope is that through personal discovery about your ancestry, you will be able to determine what the best foods are for your genetics so you can improve your health and vitality.
